Does Student Technology Services provide technical assistance to students in the dorms?
Student Technology Services serves students residing in the dorms the same way it serves students who commute. All AASU students can utilize STS computer labs; contact the Student Help Desk with questions regarding WebCT, Student Email, Microsoft Office, and other computer-related topics; and attend student workshops and orientations.
Can I bring my laptop to STS staff for maintenance or trouble-shooting?
STS does not provide support for non-AASU equipment and software. However, if you think you might have a virus, please see our virus information resources and feel free to contact the Student Help Desk with any questions.
Does STS provide network ports for students to connect their laptops to?
Currently, students are not permitted to connect their laptops to network ports in AASU facilities.
Does STS make recommendations for the purchase of student PCs?
Student Technology Services offers general information for students who plan to purchase a PC. Students who reside in the dorms and use the dorm-provided Internet access should have a computer with an ethernet network card (10BaseT cable, RJ45 connector) configured with TCP/IP and a browser. If the student is enrolled in a particular program, such as Computer Science, the student may want to contact the specific department for computer and software recommendations.
